MARVIN KING
Marvin King was born into a musical family in Greenville, SC. As did his Father and Grandfather before him, Marvin began his musical career at a very young age.
In Ramstein Germany at age 14, Marvin was drawn to blues roots music such as Jimi Hendrix, The Cream with Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck and Johnny Winter to name a few.
Upon arriving in the USA in 1969 he continued on with his vision of one day writing, recording and performing his own music.
This began stints with countless road bands and local gigs to survive.
Through years of perseverance Marvin found himself a recording artist on two labels. In 1980 Polydor Records and again in 1992 with Capitol Nashville or commonly known as Liberty Records.
So the wheels keep on turning and Marvin is currently touring with a group called The Marvin King Revue.
Huge in Europe
Marvin King & The Blues Revival “Huge in Europe” is the first recording of Marvin featuring his son Marcus King. Recorded in Greenville, SC in 2007 this album shows both Marvin’s virtuosity and what was yet to come from his then 11 year old son Marcus.
The Calling
The Calling” was Marvin’s first solo project recorded in 1998. This recording was a great challenge as it took him out of his comfort. The lineup of musicians playing on “The Calling“ also pushed Marvin to a higher ground. Ronnie Godfrey on keys, Randall Griffith on Hammond Organ, Tony Heatherley on bass and Scotty Hawkins on drums.
